Intelligent:
Annika is an intelligent young woman. She's well read and a frequent visitor of the library, though she'd rather own her books instead of borrow them. If she had gone to Hogwarts, she would have probably been sorted into Ravenclaw, but she'll never really know about that. She particularly excels at charms, and teaches it at Hogwarts. She's also managed to become an animagus. At an early age her father started teaching her to shift forms. It took years, but by the age of seventeen she could successfully change into a snow tiger.
Party-goer:
She might be an adult, but she isn't dead. She enjoys hanging out with other people and going out. She likes being in pubs and clubs and having a drink now and then with some friends. She likes getting ready for parties, dressing up and doing her make up. She likes meeting people at parties and she likes going home with people she doesn't know on some nights. She's an adult, and reasons that she's old enough to make decisions even if the result ends up bad.
Rooted:
While some things that she does would bring dishonor to her family, Annika incorporates several aspects of Japanese culture (including the idea of saving honor) into her life. Several religions are rolled into one in her family so she believes in several different things at once. She's familiar meditation and practices it on a regular basis. She has several kimonos for special events, and actually enjoys the way that some of the clothing looks and has been known to teach in them at times. She has a small rock garden in her classroom and another in her quarters. She was born in Japan, went to a wizarding school in Japan, and still misses home from time to time.
Insecure:
Though she likes to have fun, and she likes dressing up, she is pretty insecure about her appearance. She laughs things off and doesn't want people to know that she's insecure, but she sometimes worries about what other people think about her looks. She can be very sexy, but she is honestly modest and doesn't realize that she is attractive to some people. She isn't afraid to show a bit of skin, but she doesn't think anyone thinks she's pretty. When complimented, she feels awkward and tends to either ignore it, deny it, or laugh it off.

Annika was born in Japan as a pureblood witch. The first language she learned was Japanese, but she was taught English starting at an early age because of how much it is used in other countries. Her magical ability started at an early age and she got several letters to different schools, including Hogwarts. Her parents decided to keep her closer to home and send her to a smaller, private wizarding school in Japan when she turned eleven. Her professors immediately recognized that she was able to advance in her learning a lot quicker than other students. She was spending more time in a library than anywhere else until the age of fourteen, when she realized that there were people that were worth speaking to. Her teachers suggested moving her up a year, but her parents decided to keep her in the group with students her own age.
Even when she noticed people and started dating, she was a smart woman. She never did well in potions, but what did that matter when she was top of her class in everything else? Her first girlfriend was a year older than he when Annika was fourteen. It lasted a few months before the two called it off, her girlfriend saying it would disappoint her parents. Annika knew her parents probably wouldn't approve either, but she didn't like boys. She finally told her parents when she was fifteen. They ignored the information, but didn't disown her, which Annika thought was a small victory. She never spoke about it with her parents again, and things moved on as usual. Annika's romances have either been longish-terms (meaning at least a few months and usually longer) or very short flings (one night stands or just a few dates).
After graduating, Annika spent some time traveling, but she always came back home to Japan. She did some odd jobs, but never anything that she really enjoyed. For five years she traveled to different areas of the world. When she was eighteen she went backpacking in Europe with some friends and made some friends in the Ministry, she even held a job with them temporarily helping them figure out how to deactivate some charms placed on specific objects. That didn't last long, though she was asked to stay, it wasn't something she particularly loved.
In the States she stayed in New York City and had a few one night stands. She met some intelligent and some well known witches and wizards who she still keeps in contact with. She's been to China, Russia, Italy, and France, and while she's picked up some key sentences and is smart enough to carry on a sort of conversation with foreigners, she is only really fluent in Japanese and English.
She was twenty-two when she got the job offer at Hogwarts and accepted it immediately. She has held the position of Charms Professor ever since. Professor Sato has found that she really enjoys teaching, although she wishes that Hogwarts was closer to Japan because she gets homesick at times. Her office, classroom, and living space reflect her Japanese roots.
